Fresh Local Vegetables
At Urban Hijau, we feed the soil. The ecosystem that the soil creates feeds the plants.
When asked the question about which foods are most healthy, Geoff Lawton explained that the local food available that is eaten at its freshest is the most healthy food.
We at Urban Hijau add a simple way to find out if you are eating nutritious food. Eat it!
Food with good nutrition always is more flavorful than most of the bland food available in the market these days.
Join us every Sunday to get the fresh produce grown within a diverse ecosystem without chemicals.

Buy Our Harvest!
Urban Hijau since its beginning has strived to be an abundant ecosystem offering a variety of different fruits, vegetables and herbs for visitors. We pride ourselves on supplying a range of organic food options for customers interested in a nutritious diet from local sources.
We supply to local TTDI residents and outside as well. Our customers include our neighbors, outside visitors, restaurants and NGOs. We urge customers to visit the farm themselves for the experience and see where the food they purchase comes from. We also accept bulk orders during the week for produce which can be sent directly to customers who contact us.
Wide Variety of Options
Urban Hijau has over 150 varieties of edible plants at its site, a dense and flourishing ecosystem that is not just a permaculture showcase, but also provides a supply of healthy eating options for our customers. We grow different crops from our aquaponics unit, greenhouse and open harvest to cater to the tastes and culinary habits of local residents.
Among our leafy vegetable options include sawi, kangkung, bak choi, kale, kailan, sweet potato leaf, kale, lettuce, Chinese lettuce and different types of spinach, including green spinach, Brazilian spinach, tree spinach and Malabar spinach. For herbs, we sell a mix of native and more common varieties, including mint, ulam raja, lemongrass, watercress, basil and others. Our fruit options include several species of banana and papaya.
Some of the favorite for the customers are:
“Mulukhiyah, Bayam Hijau, Kale, Pak Choy, Sawi, Bendi, Terung, Pucuk Manis, Pucuk Ubi and more…
Its is very interesting for many visitors and kids who come to the farm and see us eating the greens fresh from after being plucked. While generally we advice people to wash the produce before eating it, we know what we grow and are always confident to enjoy things right of the plant.
Pesticide-free Harvest
Urban Hijau is a strong proponent for eating fruits and vegetables that are naturally grown without the use of artificial chemicals, including different forms of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. We do not use such chemicals on our harvest and opt instead for biopesticides and other organic options to ensure the harvest is protected from pests and protected from the elements.
While synthetic pesticides are designed to kill pests that attack the harvest, they carry many risks in regards to health that are worth pointing out. Many pesticides carry a certain toxicity or risks depending on the exposure to the person consuming the processed or unprocessed food items. The health effects can range from skin or eye irritation, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea to other problems, with children being especially susceptible. Many pesticides also contain known carcinogens and are more dangerous to long-term health.
Urban Hijau encourages its customers to be responsible consumers and invest in their health by being mindful of their nutrition and diet by eating local and natural.
Visit our Sunday Farmer’s Market!
Every Sunday morning, Urban Hijau hosts its weekly Farmer’s Market to the community, beginning from 9am to noon. The Sunday Market is not just an opportunity to buy your weekly kitchen supply, but also to meet other friends in the community as a green weekend spot away from work and home. First time visitors are encouraged to take a tour around the site and experience Urban Hijau intimately for themselves in their morning stroll.
Along with your weekly vegetables, the Sunday Market hosts local vendors offering organic food options, including rainforest honey and organic homemade tempeh. For those interested in growing their own plants and practicing home gardening skills, we sell our specially prepared Urban Hijau topsoil, vermicompost mix and organic biopesticide at the market as well. Various edible sapling options that are for sale include Indian borage, tapioca, ulam raja, chili and other plants available upon request.
