The experience of moving towards sustainability is for all. It can start from a simple act to get your hands dirty.

Moving ahead from raising awareness in the early years of Urban Hijau we started to organize customized events for groups, so everyone can participate in the move towards sustainable food security. Based on the needs the customized events are catered to be as hands on as possible be it at the site or even virtually. We all need to take an action and if there is enough of us, there will be abundance for all.

Group Events

Urban Hijau being an integrated farm, and a green garden allows us to share a lot we have learnt over the years. The journey to sustainability can start from may areas but the reality and need for the current situation lies on healthy food. 

We also link the closely to appropriate techniques and other integrations like that of waste management and long term sustainable impact.

Being on the border of Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya does give us access to a wide community and we hope we can do our part to help activate the journey towards sustainability.

Urban Farming Training Programs

Urban Hijau’s Guided Group Activities are unique as they allow a group receive an informational farm tour before being involved in a joint morning exercise. These range from compost preparation & mixing to seeding, planting & harvesting new crops. 

Each program is custom designed for the maximum satisfaction of the participants and to give them practical knowledge on how to get started as an urban gardener. Our team of experienced trainers are passionate and are committed to ensuring each workshop has the right mix of actionable knowledge and hands-on activities to keep every participant engaged. 

Workshops are normally half-day programs, beginning in the early morning with an interactive farm tour followed by an intensive demonstration of a sustainable process on the farm. Participants are often split into smaller groups for activities to ensure fun competition and teamwork in the hands-on exercises. 

Every workshop is rounded off by a delicious organic meal made from ingredients from the farm itself, giving participants a true appreciation for our farm-to-table process.  

Hands-on Livestream Virtual Events

 

Urban Hijau delivers lively, thoughtful and practical online workshops and tutorials to companies interested in giving their staff a green education from the comfort of their homes. 

Online sessions are usually coupled with two things:

  • Grow Kits that the participants can use to start their growing journey
  • NGO Impact attachment
Based on the area of interest an appropriate social impact section is attached to the program making is step outside of the event if required. 

Team-building and Retreats

If your company is looking for a unique space to get your team together for a day out, why settle for an indoor office or overseas location when you can have a living and breathing green space nearby? Urban Hijau has been happy to host team events with companies, giving participants a collective experience of bonding in Nature. Urban Hijau’s Teambuilding events are a special occasion in which participants are involved in a mix of activities to keep them on their toes, from compost turning to treasure hunt competitions. 

A Great Event Space

Since its founding, Urban Hijau has hosted events for corporate teams, university volunteers and school groups, with over 500 participants having visited our site. We are a one-acre urban farm site conveniently located in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, offering a lush green scene with a terrific vista of Taman Tun. With a fully-equipped training room and a variety of features including an aquaponics system, a composting station and rainwater harvesting setup, we guarantee a memorable hands-on experience of reconnecting with Nature.
